Lesotho Premier League review

Another round is gone in the race to be crowned Lesotho’s league kings. There are now just eight more laps to go until May’s finish line. The Molapo Sports Centre takes a wee look back at another interesting dose of weekend action.

It was a good weekend for…
LCS. These days it seems every weekend is a good one for Masheshena. LCS went three points clear at the top of the Vodacom Premier League yesterday with a convincing 3-0 win over Lerotholi thanks to a brace from Thabane Rankara and a Khoto Sesinyi special. That’s now six wins from six and Masheshena have scored a remarkable 13 goals in their last three matches.

Linare won’t be feeling too bad about themselves either after earning a hard fought 2-1 win over Swallows in difficult conditions on Saturday. The win in Mazenod was Tse Tala’s second in a row after a three match winless streak. Linare are four points behind LCS and are still in with a shot of winning their first championship in 31 years.

It was a bad weekend for…
the Lioli, Matlama derby. Every country has its derby match. On the evidence of Friday’s match between Lioli and Matlama Lesotho still has some way to go same go to boast its own Classico. The match in Teyateyaneng was supposed to be a Moshoeshoe’s Day special but in the end the goalless draw failed to live up to expectations.

The weekend was so-so for… Bantu after they bagged three points from a possible six. A Matšo Matebele will be bitterly disappointed they weren’t able to make the most of their game in hand, losing 2-1 at home to Likhopo on Friday. It was Bantu’s first loss at home in the league all season. However yesterdays 1-0 win over Mabeoana will have gone some way to easing their pain…

Weekend results
Friday (11/03): Lioli 0-0 Matlama, Bantu 1-2 Likhopo
Saturday (12/03): Swallows 1-2 Linare
Sunday (13/03): Bantu 1-0 Mabeoana, Lioli 1-0 Joy, Lerotholi 0-3 LCS, Mphatlalatsane 0-0 Maduma
