Lesotho has moved up one spot to 147th place in Fifa’s latest world rankings. The latest figures were released by today and mean Likuena will end the year in the world’s top 150.

Likuena have enjoyed a positive run in recent months which included beating Burundi 3-2 on aggregate in a preliminary World Cup qualifier in November. As a result Lesotho will now go into Group D of Fifa 2014 World Cup qualifying alongside Ghana, Zambia and Sudan.

The ranking of 147th is Likuena’s highest position since August 2007 when Lesotho was rated 143rd in the world.

At the top end of the table, World and European champions Spain remain unchallenged and end the year as the top ranked side for the fourth consecutive year. Spain are followed by the Netherlands, Germany and Uruguay who are all competing in an exciting head-to-head battle for second place.

By virtue of ending the year as the top-ranked team, Spain are crowned the Fifa Team of the Year for the fourth year in a row.

The title of Best Mover of the Year meanwhile was claimed by Wales who, with 330 points, won the most points in 2011. Wales are now ranked 48th in the world.

The top-ranked teams in each of the six Fifa confederations are Spain (1st), Uruguay (4th), Ivory Coast (16th), Japan (19th), Mexico (21st) and New Zealand (119th).
