Lesotho Premier League: Rain wreaks havoc

Rain wreaked havoc on this weekend’s Vodacom Premier League action as all but two games were wiped out because of heavy downpours across Lesotho. In the end the only matches that survived were Qoaling Highlanders against Nyenye Rovers and LMPS versus Joy, with both ending in 1-0 wins for the home sides.

Bantu-Linare (on Saturday) and Lioli-Mpharane Celtic, LDF-Likhopo and Matlama-LCS (yesterday) were all wiped out.
Missing in Action...
LDF and Matlama both had their weekend games washed out
Two consecutive wins for Qoaling Highlanders have relieved pressure on the new boys and lifted them up to ninth with 11 points. Nyenye Rovers on the other hand are in danger of being cut adrift after consecutive defeats. They are bottom with seven points, though that’s only four points behind Highlanders in ninth such is the closeness of the league this season.

The weekend weather is a setback for the leading sides – Bantu, Lioli and LCS. All three have now had rain postponements for two successive weeks.

The top of the league therefore remains unchanged.

Bantu lead the way with 16 points ahead of Lioli and LCS on goal difference. LDF are fourth with 13 points and after their win LMPS are fifth with 13 points, three off the top. LMPS have played two games more than most teams, but the fact Simunye were rock-bottom just a few weeks ago shows how shows tight it is.

The Premier League will meet on Tuesday to decide when to re-fixture all abandoned or postponed games.
