Tse Nala were given a helping hand by their nearest
challengers Bantu after A Matšo Matebele
could only muster a goalless draw with Linare yesterday in Hlotse.
Lioli
took care of their side of business with a comfortable 3-0 win at struggling Mpharane
Celtic.
It
means Tse Nala, with 43 points, have
a four-point cushion at the top with only a game remaining in the season.

It
is Lioli’s second league crown in five seasons and the third in the club’s
history.
Lioli’s
triumph, this time around, has been made possible by a formidable run of form
that‘s seen Tse Nala remain unbeaten
in 16 matches, stretching back to October.
It
has been a season of impressive balance for Lehlohonolo Thotanyana’s side. Lioli’s
defence has only conceded 10 goals over the course of the season, keeping to
the adage that defence wins championships. Upfront, young starlet Tšepo
Seturumane blossomed into a goal-threat of repute scoring 16 goals to lead the
goal-scoring charts.

Elsewhere, outgoing
champions LCS sealed a top four spot with a 3-1 win over Matlama at the CTC
Ground yesterday.
Masheshena join LDF, who played to a 2-2 draw with Likhopo, in
the top four.
Finishing
amongst the top four sides will be scant consolation for Bantu, however. The
Mafeteng side has made winning the title their stated goal and have spent big to
attain it. Having finished fourth, third and now second in the past three
campaigns, Bantu will be hoping the last step finally arrives next season.
The relegation battle
remains undecided. Mpharane Celtic dropped to the foot of the table after the
loss to Lioli. Celtic have been leapfrogged – albeit on goal difference – by
Nyenye Rovers who claimed a priceless 1-0 victory over Qoaling Highlanders.
The
results, meanwhile, leave Highlanders, with 18 points, just two points above
the relegation zone.
Joy
are also in danger of the axe after the weekend’s results. Mathematically
Matlama, 22 points, can also still be relegated however Tse Putsoa need just a point from their remaining four games to
secure their Premiership status.
Issues
at the foot of the table will be solved at a later date, but for now, a toast
to the champions of Lesotho
