Lesotho beats Angola, faces Nigeria next

Lesotho will face Nigeria in the third and final round of qualifying for the 2015 African Youth Championships after a 4-1 aggregate win over Angola in Luanda on Sunday.

Lesotho went into the game carrying a 3-1 lead from an impressive first leg display at Setsoto Stadium two weeks ago and completed the job with a 1-0 win, their fourth win in as many qualifying games so far.

The current Makoanyane XI side, coached by Moses Maliehe, is aiming to become the country’s third to qualify for the continental showpiece. Lesotho qualified for the 2011 edition in South Africa and Benin 2005.

To do that, though, Lesotho must overcome six-time champions Nigeria in the final round of qualifying.

The first leg will be played on the weekend of 15-17 August with the return leg taking place two weeks later on the weekend of 29-31 August.

Seven teams will emerge from the qualifying process to join hosts Senegal in the finals scheduled for 8-22 March 2015. The four semi-finalists at the 2015 African Youth Championships will represent Africa at the 2015 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
