Talking points from Week 2 of the Vodacom Premier League...

Still early for panic buttons at Bantu...

A bad start for Bantu, but it’s still early for panic buttons
It has been a slow start to the 2015/16 Vodacom Premier League season for Bantu. A Matšo Matebele surprisingly lost their first game of the campaign 2-0 against LMPS. Then on Sunday, in a game Mafeteng felt their heroes would bounce back, Bantu drew 1-1 with LDF at the Leshoboro Seeiso Stadium.

It is clear Bantu are in a transition period. Katiso Mojakhomo is still imparting his philosophy and way of doing things on the squad after the departure of Motlatsi Shale. As suspected, the transition will take time. Mojakhomo is a strict, disciplinarian coach. Still, even with the sub-par start Bantu have had, it is still too early to be pushing any panic buttons. A Matšo Matebele have enough quality to bounce back into the title race. The only problem, however, is they are up against a Lioli team on fire. Even as early as it is, Bantu can’t afford to get left too far behind.

Lioli appear ahead of the game already
Lioli did it the hard way against Linare on Saturday. Against a Linare team that was thumped 4-1 at home by Likhopo the week before, the champions were made to sweat. However, in the end Tse Nala managed to grind out the win and they appear to be still ahead of the pack. The key is that Lioli have continuity. All the other top four sides from last season – Bantu, LCS and Matlama – are under new management this season. Meanwhile at Lioli, coach Mosholi “Shoes” Mokhothu can keep perfecting his style.

Rovers have started well
Rovers have made a better than expected start to the season. The National University of Lesotho side were expected to be a relegation candidate instead they are unbeaten after two games and are fifth in the league. They started with a gusty 0-0 draw away to Matlama in their first game and they followed that up with a 1-0 win at home over Liphakoe. So far, so good.
