LCS and Matlama out to take advantage | Week 19 Preview

Bantu and Matlama have contrasting agendas this weekend
Lioli are taking centre stage this weekend with their CAF Champions League Valentine’s date with Vital’O but there is still some Vodacom Premier League action to look forward to tomorrow.

With Lioli not in league action, the chasing duo of LCS and Matlama has a chance to close the gap to the leaders to two points.

LCS are the form team in the division currently having won their last four games. Masheshena meet an LDF side that has faltered after it went on a four-match winning run of its own. Sohle-Sohle are winless in their last three games including a frustrating 3-3 draw with bottom side Mphatlalatsane last weekend.

Lioli’s inaction is especially important for Matlama as they have a game in hand on Tse Nala and would appear the best bet to challenge the champions. However, Matlama have to take care of business against a tricky LMPS side that is fighting for its life. The game will also be ex-Matlama caption Nkau Lerotholi’s first game against Tse Putsoa since he left for LMPS last month. So, it won’t be easy for Matlama at the PTC grounds.

There is starting to be a log-jam at the bottom of the table. Only four points separate Rovers in ninth place from the bottom team, Mphatlalatsane.

It is for this reason that Linare’s clash against Rovers assumes added importance. A win for either side would give them breathing space, at least for now. Both teams go into the game on a wretched run of form, however. Linare have only won one of their past five games while Rovers have lost four of their last five games.

Liphakoe is another team in trouble and they travel to Mafeteng to face Bantu who will also be desperate for the points but for different reasons. Liphakoe are just a point above the relegation zone. Bantu’s title hopes are gone, but they need a win to remain in the hunt for a top four place.

Speaking of the top four, current holders of that coveted fourth spot, Likhopo, have a perfect opportunity to consolidate their position when they face Mphatlalatsane. Any slip by Likhopo, however, would open the door for Sandawana. Sandawana host Kick4Life in Butha-Buthe.

But, it is sure to be a closely contested clash. Kick4Life have improved since hiring former Lesotho coach Leslie Notši in November and have won two of their four games under his charge.
