Lesotho Rugby Independence Championship kicks off

Rugby to celebrate Lesotho's 50th year of independence
The Federation of Lesotho Rugby has unveiled a Lesotho Rugby Independence Championship to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence.  The competition starts on Saturday and will run until October 3.

All matches will be held in Ha-Mabote at the home of 2016 league champions Mabote Beavers. The championship will be contested by the teams in the Lesotho rugby league.

The opening day of action on Saturday will see the National University of Lesotho Spears facing Warriors before Mabote Beavers battle LCS Lioalaoala. Royals will have a bye for the first week of action.

The following week Royals will face Warriors and Mabote Beavers will play NUL Spears while LCS Lioalaoala will have a bye.

High school games will be played from 10:00 on every game-day as part of efforts to boost rugby development in the country.
