Lichocha looking to pressure Bokamoso South

Lichocha Shooting Rifles will be looking to close the gap on National Basketball League A-Division leaders Bokamoso South when they face Leseli Tigers this evening at Lehakoe Club. Lichocha are five points behind Bokamoso South but have played two games less. A win would keep the pressure on the leaders.

Lichocha will hope they have no rust, however. They haven’t played since a win over Limkokwing University two weeks ago. Their opponents are also on a promising run. Leseli are in eighth place but go into this evening’s game on a two-game winning streak. The game tips off at 6pm.

The NBL action will continue on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the games will be played in Mafeteng and A-Division reigning champions KTA All Stars will face NUL Rovers in a high stakes match-up.

KTA are in the fourth and final playoff spot while Rovers are just a point behind them. There are also four ladies league games on Saturday including league leaders Bokamoso North facing Limkokwing University.

On Sunday the NBL moves to the CTC courts in Maseru. All of the top three teams in the A-Division will be in action. Third-placed Bashana Baheso face Limkokwing University, second placed Lichocha Shooting Rifles will meet Bokamoso North and leaders Bokamoso South will play Leseli Tigers.

Staying with basketball and the Lesotho Basketball Association has announced it will host its annual awards at AME Hall in Maseru. The awards ceremony will be held on November 26 and will run from 6pm to 10pm. The dress code will be strictly formal.

The LBA is selling early bird tickets at M100 until November 10. After the 10th tickets will cost M150. A table for 10 people, meanwhile, is R1500. The LBA awards are set to be bigger and better this year with soft drink company Sprite coming on board as a backer for the show.

Once again the main individual awards will be that of most valuable player, most improved player and coach of the year.

Finally to football and the Democratic Republic of Congo has replaced Rwanda in the field for the 2016 COSAFA Under-20 Championships after the latter withdraw from the competition.

The prestigious junior competition will be held from December 7 to 16 in South Africa’s North West province. DR Congo has taken the place of Rwanda in the three-team Group D which also includes Mozambique and Comoros.

COSAFA has also released the fixtures for the tournament. Lesotho is in Group A with hosts South Africa, Botswana and Swaziland. Lesotho will open its campaign on December 7 against South at 19:30pm at the Moreleng Stadium. Two days later the Makoanyane XI play Botswana at the same stadium at 11am. Lesotho’s final group game is on December 12 against Swaziland at the Mogwase Stadium at 5pm. Only the group winners will advance to the semi-finals.
