LNOC launches management course, A-Division heats up

LNOC out to improve sports management in Lesotho

The Lesotho National Olympic Committee has launched an Advanced Sports Management course that will run until July 16 next year. The course was unveiled at the LNOC’s offices in Maseru West on Saturday and will be held on weekends over the next eight months.

The Advanced Sports Management course has been especially designed for administrators in Lesotho’s various sports federations in an effort to improve the day-to-day of the country’s associations.

The course’s opening was directed by honorary LNOC member Mokebe Maketela and he said the success of the course would be determined by the commitment and co-operation of its participants.

LNOC chief executive officer Morake Raleaka also pointed out that sport around the world is no longer a hobby but a fulltime business that needs to be run in a more professional way.

The LNOC hopes the course will equip Lesotho’s sports administrators with skills that will develop their respective sporting bodies.

The modules participants will undertake include: administration of an Olympic sports organisation, strategic management, financial management, marketing and organisation of major sporting events.

To football and only two rounds remain until the end of the first round in the A-Division.

And the action is slowly heating up as contenders are starting to be separated from pretenders.

In the North Stream, it is beginning to look like a three-horse race between Galaxy, Lerotholi Polytechnic and Sefotha-fotha.

Galaxy and Lerotholi are tied at the top with 17 points after both secured wins over the weekend. Lerotholi beat Mphatlalatsane 4-3 in a pulsating affair in Leribe while Galaxy also recorded a high-scoring away win by defeating Lithabaneng Golden 4-2. Galaxy are in first place by virtue of a superior goal difference.

Sefotha-fotha are right on the heels of Galaxy and Lerotholi.

They are just a point behind the top two after beating Naughty Boys 2-1 on Saturday. The weekend’s action also saw Limkokwing University keep their promotion hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Likila United. Limkokwing are in fourth place, five points behind the leaders.

In the South Stream, it is Majantja who hold pole position in the race to the Vodacom Premier League.

The Mohale’s Hoek side opened a three point lead at the top this weekend when they beat Fisters 3-1 and second placed Van Rooyen were held to a goalless draw by Mangau.

Majantja have 17 points while Van Rooyen have 14. Swallows are in third place with 11 points while fourth spot is held by Manonyane who have 10 points.

However, Manonyane have a game in hand after their derby against Roma Boys this past Saturday was postponed because of heavy rain.

Only the winners of the respective north and south streams will gain promotion to the Vodacom Premier League.
