Wednesday battles in the Vodacom Premier League and National Basketball League

Nkau Lerotholi and LMPS face Liphakoe 

Liphakoe and LMPS will do battle on Wednesday afternoon at Ratjomose in a crucial Vodacom Premier League for both sides.

The clash will kick-off at 16:00 and it is a rescheduled fixture after the original match was postponed two weeks ago in Quthing because of heavy rains. The game remains Liphakoe’s home fixture but is being hosted in Maseru this time around.

The two teams go into the game desperate to regain form. Both Liphakoe and LMPS started the season brilliantly but have stumbled in recent weeks. LMPS were unbeaten and in second place after four games but they haven’t won a game since beating bottom side Butha-Buthe Warriors 1-0 on September 24. It is a run of six games without a win and it has dropped Semunye all the way down to seventh place.

Liphakoe have hit a similarly rough patch. Their last win was a 2-1 win over Butha-Buthe Warriors on October 9. Their form has seen the Quthing outfit slide dangerously down the table. Liphakoe are 11th and at risk of being dragged into the relegation dogfight. Liphakoe will hope the return of Teele Ntšonyana as coach after away several weeks away will stabilise the team.

With both teams without a win in two months, Liphakoe and LMPS will be desperate for all three points when they meet at Ratjomose.

There is also a game in the National Basketball League this evening and it is a mega clash as third-placed Bashana Baheso face second-placed Lichocha Shooting Rifles. The game will be played be at the Lehakoe Club starting from 18:00 and a win for either side would see them leapfrog Bokamoso South to the top of the NBL standings.

Bokamoso South currently lead the table with 17 points. Lichocha are second with 17 points as well and BBH are third with 16 points. Lichocha are the NBL’s form team having won their last five games and they have scored a league-high 770 points in their nine games this season.

BBH, on the other hand, have the NBL’s best defence having only allowed 326 points in their nine games.

The 2015 champions come into the game on a two-game win streak.
