Matlama will
face Bantu while defending champions Lioli will meet Likhopo in the
quarterfinals of the 2017 LNIG Top 8.
The draw for
Lesotho’s premier cup competition was conducted this morning at Bambatha Tšita
Sports Arena and it produced four mouthwatering ties.
The tournament
is sponsored by Lesotho National Insurance Group and this year the total prize
money sponsorship is roughly M450 000 with the winner set to take home a cool M100
000.
In the other last
eight ties, Sundawana will meet Kick4Life while LDF and LCS will face-off.
The semi-final
draw was also conducted. In the first semi-final the winner of Matlama and
Bantu will face Lioli or Likhopo. In the second semi, LDF or LCS will meet the
winner of Sundawana and Kick4Life.
LNIG boss
Ralitapole Letsoela said the company was happy to continue their partnership with
the Premier League. This year the LNIG Top 8 will be launching its fourth
edition. Lioli won the first edition in 2014 followed by Bantu’s victory in
2015 before Lioli’s success last year.
The
quarterfinal first legs will be played on the weekend of February 4 and 5 with
the return matches on February 25 and 26. The semi-finals and final will be on
April 8 and 9.

Moving to
basketball and reigning National Basketball League champions KTA All-Stars have
completed the signing of Eric Kalanda from Khubestate. Kalanda’s signing comes
just in time for the champions who are lying in sixth place in the NBL
standings, two spots outside the playoff places.
KTA face
high-flying Lichocha Shooting Rifles when the NBL second round begins on
Saturday. The game will be played at the Lehakoe Centre and KTA can’t afford to
lose further ground or they could be in danger of losing their crown, even
before the playoffs begin.
