A-Division season concludes with three-way South Stream promotion battle

Only one of Swallows, Majantja or Van Rooyen
will make it to the Vodacom Premier League...
The three-way A-Division South Stream promotion race will go down to Saturday’s final day of the season. As things stand, Majantja, Swallows and Van Rooyen United can all be promoted to the Vodacom Premier League. Majantja are in pole position because they are on top of the table but any slip-up would see Swallows or Van Rooyen reach the promised land of the Vodacom Premiership.

Sefotha-fotha have already booked their tickets to the elite league after winning the North Stream.

Majantja are the favourites to join them. They will be at home against a Mangau side that hasn’t had a good season and has little to play for on the final day. Mangau are seventh in the 10-team division with only five wins from their 17 games and eight losses.

Nevertheless, a Majantja win is not a foregone conclusion. The Mohale’s Hoek side have drawn nearly half (eight) of their 17 games this season. Only Manonyane with nine draws have played to more stalemates.

Manonyane are the team Swallows will be hosting in what set to be a lively and expectant Mazenod. If Swallows beat Manonyane and Majantja drop points against Mangau then Maswai-swai will be promoted to the Vodacom Premier League because they have a far superior goal difference to third-placed Van Rooyen.

Van Rooyen would appear to have the greatest odds to make it up to the top-flight. Not only do they go into the weekend third behind Majantja and Swallows, they face a Fisters side that will be fighting for their lives. Fisters are second from bottom, one point ahead of basement dwellers Melele, and they need a win to ensure their survival. Mafeteng’s Van Rooyen also have to travel away to Quthing to face Fisters.
