Bantu have one hand on the Vodacom
Premier League title after a vital 3-1 win over Sundawana on Sunday at the
Maputsoe DiFA Stadium. Thanks to the victory, Bantu will head into this
weekend’s final day of the season on top of the league, two points clear of
champions Lioli.
The Mafeteng giants finish the season against
Kick4Life and a win would give A Matšo
Matebele a memorable title triumph in what is the season of their 90th birthday
celebrations.
Bantu’s goals on Sunday against
Sundawana came courtesy of a Tsietsi Khooa brace and a strike from Peter
‘Chuku’ Maloisane.
Champions Lioli had ensured the race
will go down to the last day after Bokang Sello scored a late winner to give Tse Nala a priceless 1-0 win over
Likhopo on Saturday. The Teyateyaneng giants conclude their season against Sky
Battalion and have to hope Bantu slip-up in order for them to win their third
championship in a row.
The Vodacom Premier League relegation
battle will also go down to the final day of the season after Jane Thaba-Ntšo
and Phafa Tšosane scored to give Matlama a dramatic 2-1 over Rovers in Roma on
Saturday.
The result means Rovers remain two
points clear of Likhopo in the relegation zone. Rovers finish with Linare in
Roma while Likhopo are away in Quthing to face Liphakoe.
Elsewhere, LCS took a big step towards
clinching a top four finish after demolishing relegated Butha-Buthe Warriors
4-0 in Maputsoe on Saturday.
Fourth-placed Masheshena are three
points clear of fifth-placed Sky Battalion who beat LMPS 1-0 on Sunday. It
means LCS will need just a point on the last day to secure at least fourth
place.
