A big weekend in the Women’s Super League

The top four teams in the Women's Super League will go toe-to-toe this weekend...

It is a potentially pivotal weekend in the Women’s Super League as the division’s top four collide.

On Saturday, fourth-placed Basetsana will have the unenviable task of trying to stop the runaway train that is defending champions LDF Ladies who are top and have won all three of their games this season.

In the process LDF have scored 17 goals without conceding.

Basetsana have been gallant this season, though, and may be confident of pulling off an upset after back-to-back to wins over Berea and Rovers.

The weekend’s main event is on Sunday, however, when second-placed Stoko face third-placed Kick4Life.

Like LDF, Stoko have a perfect record from their three games this season and are only second on goal difference. The Maputsoe side won the Women’s Super League title in 2016 and will be looking to prove they are contenders again with a victory over Kick4Life.

Kick4Life, for their part, desperately need a signature win after a 1-0 defeat to rivals LDF three weeks ago.

That loss was a setback.

Kick4Life have finished second in each of the Women’s Super League three campaigns so far and this season was seen as the year Puseletso Mokhosi’s side might finally break their duck, especially after beating LDF in the season curtain-raising Super League Tournament in July.

Both the LDF-Basetsana and Stoko-Kick4Life games will be played at Setsoto Stadium before the Top 4 Independence Cup gets underway later in the day.

LDF and Basetsana will faceoff on Saturday morning while Stoko against Kick4Life will be played on Sunday.

The two other fixtures for this weekend will be played on Saturday as a double header at Assumption High School in Teyateyaneng and will involve the league’s bottom four teams who have one win between them this season.

The first game will kick-off at 11:00 when Mafeteng Sistas will be out to get their first three points of the season when they face Rovers.

The second game will get underway at 13:00 and will see Berea Ladies and Sky Battalion go toe-to-toe. Both teams are without a win but Berea Ladies are bottom of the Women’s Super League after losing all three of their games so far this season.

11:00 Mafeteng Sistas v Rovers (Assumption High School)
13:00 Berea Ladies v Sky Battalion (Assumption High School)
