Butha-Buthe Warriors say they will be back in the Vodacom Premier League soon... |
Relegated Butha-Buthe Warriors have vowed
to bounce straight back to the Vodacom Premier League after their relegation
from the elite league. Warriors have endured a miserable 2016/17 season and are
on course to set the lowest points total in over a decade.
The Butha-Buthe side have lost 21 of
their 25 league games this season and have only won once.
Their average of 0.24 points per game
worse is than Sekamaneng Young Stars’ pitiful 0.27 in the 2008/09 league
campaign.

Until 2009/10 there were 16 teams in the Premier League. Now there are 14
|
However, even with the depressing stats,
Warriors coach Thoo Letšaba says the Butha-Buthe side will make a swift return
to the Vodacom Premiership. He said they have learnt from their one year with
the big boys and will use the experience in the A-Division.
It has been a forgettable season for Butha-Buthe Warriors... |
“We have learnt a lot from our time in
the Premier League and we are not going to repeat the same mistakes,” Letšaba
said. He also added that the club needs to find “dedicated” players.
“Butha-Buthe Warriors need players who
are dedicated and not just players who are there to be seen playing against big
teams in the country,” Letšaba said.
“The biggest mistake we made was to take
out the players which fought hard for the team to get to the premier league and
replace them with new players. We have also learned that playing in the premier
league depends on many factors that need to be taken seriously,” he added.
Letšaba said the club’s immediate focus is
on electing a new executive committee.
“The people should be careful to appoint
representatives who care about the team’s success,” he said.
“We need are people who can strive for
the growth of the club and who can sacrifice their own personal time to help
the team to grow.”
