Lesotho Premier League roars back to life

The Vodacom Premier League roared back to life this weekend after almost two months of recess.

The first match of the second round was played yesterday with league leaders Lioli beating LMPS 1-0 thanks to a goal from the in-form Tšepo Seturumane. It was the youngster’s eighth goal of the season, making him the league’s top scorer. The result temporarily moved Tse Nala four points clear at the summit.

Bantu, however, pegged the gap back to just a point with a convincing 3-0 win over struggling Nyenye Rovers in Mafeteng this afternoon. It was the first match for A Matšo Matebele in Mafeteng since they were banned from using their home ground in October after crowd trouble during a 3-3 draw with Mpharane Celtic. Bantu have a game in hand on Lioli.

In Maseru, Linare overcame Likhopo 3-1 in the battle of this season’s inconsistent teams. Tse Tala stay in sixth place with 16 points while Likhopo remain seventh, with 12 points. In Sunday’s other game, LDF defeated Mpharane Celtic 2-0 to leapfrog champions LCS into third.

Both LDF and LCS have 19 points; Sohle-Sohle lead Masheshena, who were on Caf Champions League duty this weekend, on goal difference.
