Bantu Take Advantage

Reigning champions Bantu took advantage of a poor LDF side and Lioli’s inactionthis weekend to move to the top of the Vodacom Premier.A Matšo Matebelecomfortably beat LDF 3-1 in Mafetengto leapfrog both LDF and Lioli into first place.

Bantu now have 21 points, onepoint ahead of LDF and two ahead of Lioli and sit atop the leaguefor the first time this season.
Bantu back on top...
While Bantu will be delighted with their weekend work there should be concern in the LDF camp. Sohle-Sohle are now winless in three of their last four games. Theyhave suffered defeats to Lioli and Bantu and played to a goalless draw with LCS. And, after leading the standings rather comfortably at the beginning of October, LDF have in recent weeksexposed the vulnerabilities that have dogged them inrecent years.

Sohle-Sohleare good enough to beat the rest but habitually come up short against the other big boys. It’s a major reason LDF have been unable to end their league title drought which now stretches back to 2004.

There were only three matches played this weekend because of the national team’s travels last week. In one of the other gamesplayed, newly-promoted Kick4Life continued their commendable start by beating LMPS 2-0 on Saturday. The win lifted Kick4Life into fifth place while Simunye dropped to the bottom of the table.

In Maputsoe, Nyenye Rovers and Qoaling Highlanders played to agoalless draw that did little to enhance either side’s prospects. Rovers are 11th with nine points while Qoaling are second from bottom, two points adrift of Nyenye.
