Lioli and Bantu share spoils, Kick4Life return to the top

Top dogs for another week... Kick4Life
Lioli and Bantu played to an entertaining draw at Setsoto Stadium this afternoon but it wasn’t enough for either team to take top spot in the Vodacom Premier League.

That honour remains with Kick4Life who are the leaders of the pack for a second successive week after a convincing 3-1 win over struggling Linare at the LCS Stadium.

Kick4Life have 16 points, two ahead of Lioli and LMPS who briefly took the lead of the league last night after a drawing 1-1 with LCS.

Bantu are in fourth place, three points adrift of Kick4Life but having played a game less. Matlama will also be satisfied with where they stand thanks to yesterday’s last gasp 1-0 win over Likhopo. Tse Putsoa are fifth with 12 points and they also have a game in hand on the sides above them.

But the happiest team is once again Kick4Life who were celebrating as early as the third minute against Linare thanks to a goal from high-profile off-season signing Bokang Mothoana. The Lesotho international then doubled Kick4Life’s lead a minute before halftime.

Linare were given a lifeline when Themba Mzamane netted from the penalty spot in the 56 minute. However, red hot striker Thabiso Brown sealed the deal for Leslie Notši’s side with an 85th minute penalty. Brown has now scored seven goals in seven games to lead the Vodacom Premier League goal-scoring charts.

Meanwhile, despite their goalless draw at Setsoto, both Bantu and Lioli will be relatively happy with their weekend’s work. A point is better than nothing and they are still within striking distance of the top.

In other action today, Sundawana notched their first win of the season with an entertaining 3-2 win over Liphakoe at the Maputsoe DiFA Stadium. The win comes after the dismissal of Sidwell Mothea as coach this past week. Tse Bo Yellow, who finished fourth last season, have moved up two spots to tenth place.

In the day’s final result, Butha-Buthe Warriors got their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw against Rovers. Both clubs, however, remain favourites for the drop. Warriors are bottom with one point; Rovers are just above them with just two. It’s not looking good for either.
