LDF striker Mojela Letsie is back in training... |
LDF striker
Mojela Letsie has returned to full training after an almost six-month injury layoff.
Letsie was injured towards the end of last season after being involved in a car
accident and missed the whole of Sohle-Sohle’s
offseason programme.
He was
expected to be out for a few more weeks and his return is welcome news for the
army side.
LDF coach
Motheo Mohapi said he is delighted to have his top sharpshooter back but said
Letsie still needs to regain match fitness before he can return to the field of
play.
“Mojela is
back with the team but he didn’t have enough time for the pre-season for him to
get back to the fitness levels that we expect from him,” Mohapi said.
It is unlikely
Letsie will feature on Sunday as LDF play Kick4Life. However, Mohapi didn’t
rule out Letsie playing if there is a striker crisis at Ratjomose.
“If it can
happen that we have any problems we will use him,” Mohapi said.
The prolific Mojela
scored 18 goals in the 2016/17 season to lead the goalscoring
charts. When he returns Letsie will be a boost for an LDF side that is looking
to end a trophy drought that dates back to 2008 when Sohle-Sohle won the now defunct Buddie Top 4.
LDF also haven’t
won the league since 2004, the last of their eight league titles which is
second only to the ten won by Matlama.
Sohle-Sohle have a
testing month coming up. Next up in the league they face Kick4Life and
champions Bantu. LDF then have the Independence Cup in the first week of
October – their first chance of silverware this season – before a crunch tie
against Lioli on October 21.
