Cosafa Women's Championships: The Correspendence

Lesotho is competing at the 2011 Cosafa Women’s Championships and the Molapo Sports Centre has decided to leaks a correspondence received yesterday from the Women’s Football Development Committee (WFDC) president Maleshoane Mokhathi who is in Zimbabwe with the team… WikiLeaks style...

Dear all,

First I would like to apologise for delayed correspondence. It has been hectic here trying to get everyone settled in. Everyone in camp is OK and we are staying at the New Ambassador Hotel together with Malawi and Mozambique.

On Friday morning we got the tournament’s schedules for training, pre-match meetings etc. We had our first training session at the Rufaro Stadium on Friday from 16h00 to 17h00. Our pre-match meeting was at 17h30 at Rainbow Towers Hotel. Our first game was on Saturday at 15h00 at the Rufaro Stadium against Zimbabwe. I tell you it was one hell of a game! The Zimbabweans were all over us from the first minute till the last. They play very good football as a team compared to the team that we last played against in 2002. I gathered that they have a national league for women. Let me salute my girls for the bravery they showed when they played these seasoned players... ba loanne sesali, ba tšoara thipa ka bohaleng...

We conceded in the 6th and 13th minutes in the first half and the 38th and 45+4 minutes in the second half. The girls showed character, fighting spirit and togetherness but they lacked the experience and mature skills that was displayed by our opponents.

Yesterday (Sunday), Zimbabwe rested because Sepp Blatter is visiting the country to launch the Goal Project but we played Mozambique. The whole management made sure that they did not put the girls under pressure as they are relatively young and inexperienced. They went on to beat Mozambique 3-2 and Queen was indeed the Queen of the day. I hope the Royal family will be happy!

Let me pen off, I have to prepare some stuff for the girls. I have not attended the morning session so as to take their stuff to the laundromat.
