Bantu, LCS claim vital wins, Matlama top

Matlama remain top of the Econet Premier League after 4-0 demolition
 of Swallows on Saturday...

Champions Bantu claimed a clinical 2-0 win over LMPS on Sunday at the Maputsoe DiFA Stadium to move into the top four of the Econet Premier League for the first this season.

The victory came courtesy of strikes either side of halftime by Thabo Lesaoana and Lazola Tjokotjokwana and puts Bantu’s title defence back on track after a slow start.

Just three weeks ago James Madidilane’s charges were in ninth place but impressive back-to-back wins over LCS and LMPS have reaffirmed Bantu’s status as the team to beat.

The Mafeteng giants will now head into next weekend’s Independence Cup full of confidence.

“I think with each game we will gain momentum and we will get back the winning mentality. It’s one game at a time,” Madidilane said.

The win continued A Matšo Matebele’s dominance over LMPS. The last time Simunye beat Bantu was a 1-0 win in February 2016 and successive defeats for LMPS, after a 1-0 loss to Lioli last time out, mean LMPS drop down to seventh place.

In the day’s early kick-off, LCS thumped Kick4Life 4-0 at the LCS Stadium to resume their hot streak in front of goals.

Masheshena lost 1-0 to Bantu before the international break in their last outing but they didn’t have any such problems today as their offence rediscovered their groove against a disappointing Kick4Life side.

Sepiriti Malefane and the in-form Setho Moshoeshoe both scored twice to make it a comfortable afternoon for Mpitsa Marai’s side. Kick4Life, on the other hand, are without a win or a goal since the opening day of the season way back on September 15.

In the day’s final game, Lioli and LDF played to an exciting 1-1 draw at the LCS Stadium. Defender Shetsane Ramoseeka had given Lioli the lead just after halftime but Mojela Letsie equalised to make it two goals in two games since his return from injury late last month.

On Saturday, league leaders Matlama beat newly-promoted Swallows 4-0 at Ratjomose with Lebajoa Mosehlenyane amongst the goals to continue his fine goalscoring form.

Another hot striker was on target on Saturday as Tšepang Makapa struck a second half equaliser to give Liphakoe a share of the spoils in the southern derby against Majantja. 1-1 it finished in Mohale’s Hoek.

Saturday also saw a first win for the season for Likhopo as they beat Sefotha-fotha 2-0 at the PTC Ground while newly-promoted Galaxy and Linare played to a goalless in Maputsoe in the Leribe derby.
